About

Zion Lodge Kanab operates as a budget hostel in a converted historic hospital building, offering both dormitory-style accommodations and private rooms for travelers exploring southern Utah. The property features shared kitchen facilities where guests can prepare their own meals, plus on-site laundry services for longer stays.

The hostel caters to budget-conscious travelers, including families looking for affordable lodging options in the Kanab area. The building itself carries interesting architectural history from its previous life as a medical facility, giving the property a unique character that sets it apart from standard chain motels.

Kanab sits about 45 minutes east of Zion National Park's main entrance, making this a more economical base for park visitors who don't mind the drive. The town serves as a gateway to multiple national parks, with Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon North Rim also within reasonable driving distance. For travelers planning multi-park adventures or extended stays in the region, the hostel's kitchen facilities can help stretch travel budgets further.

The property works well for solo travelers, groups, and families who prioritize location and affordability over luxury amenities. Kanab's small-town charm and proximity to some of Utah's most famous natural attractions make it a practical stopping point for road trips through the Southwest.

I have been to the bunkhouse about 10-15 times my boyfriend was staying there and each time I seen the manager Rob he was in a drunken state. He kicked my boyfriend out for "not" doing his service when he was doing whatever he was asked to do. Rob and his buddies sit in the front and each time me and my boyfriend would walk by they would pay no attention to him but each time they would see me they would nod or smile and point and this made me very uncomfortable. If you are able to stay away from this place please do the atmosphere is not good especially for females. All the rooms are trashed and Rob wants people to pay 600$ for a room the size of a closet with no air conditioning never ever will I step foot in that place again.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the management of this hostel. As I was passing through Kanab I wanted to stop and see a friend that I haven't seen in a long time and my visit did not last but a minute. As soon as I got to the place I was approached by the manager who was demonstrating extremely inappropriate behavior that made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. The manager was visibly intoxicated and made unwanted advances towards me, when I ask him to stop, he got upset and was rude and used language that I found degrading. This behavior is completely unacceptable and created a hostile environment for me as a visitor. I believe it is important for the owner and everyone else to be aware of this serious misconduct. I request this matter gets a thorough investigation to ensure that others do not experience similar situations in the future.

Perfect place to stop! Friendly staff, very interesting building - old hospital transformed into a hostel. Would definitely stay there again.

We were met by a manager who could barely stand on his feet and who could barely speak. He was really drunk. Without registering us correctly, he provided a room for which he was unable to provide the key. Also the room that a door that had no locks or handles and did not close properly into the room where the manager himself slept. He found us a dirty with difficulty . After that we could no longer stand it and were forced to leave in hotel. It was not safe. And we would like to return money
