About

This KOA Journey sits on Hurricane's mountainside with sweeping views across southern Utah's red rock country. The property offers RV sites with full hookups, tent camping areas, and rental cabins for families wanting a roof overhead. Most sites accommodate longer rigs, though back-in spots vary in size.

Location and Nearby Attractions

The location puts you 20 minutes from Zion's south entrance and close to Sand Hollow State Park's recreation opportunities. Families appreciate the on-site amenities including a fishing pond, playground, and camp store for supplies.

Cabins and Accommodations

The cabins come equipped with basic furnishings and work well for groups who want the camping experience without pitching a tent.

Climate and Site Details

Hurricane's elevation keeps temperatures a bit cooler than St. George while still offering that high desert climate. The interstate proximity means easy access but also road noise, especially for tent campers. Sites are mostly gravel with some concrete pads for RVs.

Why Stay Here

This makes a practical base camp for exploring Zion and the surrounding area. The mountain setting gives you those classic Utah vistas, and the full-service setup handles the logistics so you can focus on the adventures waiting just down the road.

We booked the deluxe cabin for 6 people and unfortunately were disappointed. We were coming up from Nevada and didn't account for the one hour time difference. But I had never been to a KOA that closed at 5pm and we missed it by 20 minutes. That is okay as they have a room with all our info and a key into the cabin just out in the open. I did have to flag someone down because our key was not with our check in folder. I wish I could say it got better from there but unfortunately not. I will say the location is great! Close to shopping, close to Quail Creek, and reasonably close to Zion National Park (40 mins). But the silverfish in our beds, the AC and wifi constantly going in and out, the couch being ripped and there being no air circulation in the bunk beds means we will not be coming back. I also want to let anyone passing through know that not only does the office close early, but there is almost nothing in there. Every KOA we've stayed at has had a little convenient store and gift shop attached but this was the barest office I've ever seen for KOA. Because of the office hours we weren't able to stop by in the morning as we left for Zion at 6am and on our way out I got an email stating I still needed to properly check in and I had been charged. The only downside for that was I wanted to get the midweek discount or military and thankfully (I forget her name) but one of the workers there was super kind and refunded me the difference!

Really pretty views, not amazing service. We were shown a map of the place while they locked up the office.
