Weeping Rock Trail

Weeping Rock is one of Zion Canyon's shortest hikes and one of its most rewarding: a paved, stair-stepped path that climbs to a natural alcove where groundwater seeps through the sandstone and drips onto the hanging garden below. The trail sits along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, reached from Shuttle Stop 7 during the months the road is shuttle-only.

The trail reopened in September 2025 after a two-year closure that followed a November 2023 rockfall. Crews rebuilt the stairways and railings and repaved the tread with traction-textured, color-matched concrete, and park scientists continue to monitor the alcove for further rockfall. The connections that once continued past Weeping Rock, including the trail to Hidden Canyon and the East Rim Trail toward Observation Point, remain closed, so treat Weeping Rock itself as the destination rather than a junction.
