Zion's shortest walk, one of its best canyon views

About

The short paved path up from Zion Canyon Scenic Drive gains just a few dozen feet before opening onto a view of three sandstone peaks named for the biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, with the Sentinel and Mount Moroni rising nearby. It's one of the shortest walks in the park — a couple of minutes each way — but the pitch is steep enough to notice, and there's no shade at the top. Sunrise and sunset light the sandstone in deep orange; midday brings the same view with fewer people around.

Getting there

  • Reached by the Zion Canyon shuttle (Court of the Patriarchs stop) when the road is shuttle-only, roughly March through October
  • Roadside parking exists when private vehicles are allowed on the Scenic Drive
