Timber Top Mountain

At 8,055 feet, Timber Top Mountain is the second-highest point in Zion National Park, just behind Horse Ranch Mountain, and it anchors the Kolob Canyons district in the park's northwest corner. It's a broad, mesa-like mountain rather than a single spire — Navajo sandstone walls ring it, running from about 400 feet high on the south side up to 2,000 feet on the north face.

Landmarks around it

• Kolob Arch sits on the mountain's lower southeast cliff.
• Shuntavi Butte forms its western tip, and Nagunt Mesa sits immediately to the north.
• Most visitors see Timber Top Mountain from below, along the Timber Creek Overlook Trail and the other short hikes off Kolob Canyons Road — it's a backdrop peak for the district rather than a standard summit hike.
