About

The Three Patriarchs are the trio of Navajo sandstone peaks named Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, rising along the west side of Zion Canyon. Methodist minister Frederick Vining Fisher gave them their biblical names in 1916, one of several religiously themed names he applied to features in the canyon that stuck. Mountain of the Sun rises immediately to their east.

Seeing them

  • The classic view is from the Court of the Patriarchs overlook on Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, a short walk from the shuttle stop of the same name.
  • For a different angle and a longer walk, the Sand Bench Trail across the road offers views of the same peaks from a different vantage.
