About

The Organ is a Navajo sandstone summit at Big Bend, near the north end of Zion Canyon, rising about 700 feet above the Virgin River. Some say the wind through its formations sounds like a pipe organ, which gave the feature its name. Climbers approach from a pullout between the Weeping Rock and Big Bend shuttle stops, with routes documented on climbing databases like Mountain Project and SuperTopo.

Good to know

  • This is a technical climbing objective, not a hiking trail — expect roped routes rather than a walk-up
  • Neighboring formations include the Great White Throne, Cathedral Mountain, and Angels Landing
  • Zion Canyon runs shuttle-only for most of the year, so plan access to the pullout around the shuttle schedule
