Day Hike
Right Fork Trailhead
Zion's quieter fork, no permit required.

About
The Right Fork Trailhead sits along the Kolob Terrace Road about 7 miles north of the town of Virgin, on Zion's less-visited west side. It's the starting point for the Right Fork of North Creek — a separate drainage from the Left Fork, which leads to the permit-only Subway. This is not that hike, and it draws far fewer people.
What to expect
- A long, rugged wash hike with stream crossings, boulder-hopping, and route-finding — figure 9 to 12 hours for the full day hike.
- No permit is required for a bottom-up day hike; a wilderness permit is required only if you're backcountry camping.
- Bring a map, GPS, and plenty of water — the canyon is remote and not signed.
