Poverty Gulch Rim Overlook

Poverty Gulch Rim Overlook sits along Poverty Wash Road, an old cattle route on BLM and Utah state trust land roughly 2.8 miles east of Zion National Park's boundary off Highway 9. The road works its way toward Parunweap Canyon above the East Fork of the Virgin River, with several side spurs leading out to rim overlooks; one of the better-known ones sits on open white rock with views into the canyon and the Barracks, a narrow slot section of the East Fork that lies partly within the park itself.

This is backcountry, not a maintained park trail: the road is rated moderately challenging and typically driven with a high-clearance or 4x4 vehicle, and there's no park infrastructure out here. It's a legitimate way to see Zion's quieter eastern backcountry from the rim, but it takes more planning than a standard trailhead visit.
