Pinion Run

An easy spin through East Zion's pinyon-juniper backcountry

About

Pinion Run is a short, beginner-friendly loop in the Applecross trail network on Zion's east side, reached off North Fork Road near Orderville. Riders using the fenced trailhead staging area cross the road on a connector trail to reach the loop itself.

On the ground

  • The loop runs about 1.7 miles with roughly 150 feet of climbing, mellow enough for kids and new riders.
  • Two harder descending lines, Radio Flyer and Juniper Rush, branch off the same loop for more experienced riders.
  • Traffic is light compared with the bigger Zion-area trail systems, so expect a quiet ride through pinyon-juniper terrain.

It's a mountain-biking trail, not a hiking path — plan for a bike, not boots, and bring your own water since there's none on site.
