Overlook
A quiet viewpoint in Zion's high country
(0)
About
This overlook sits in Zion's high country, along the network of backcountry trails that thread through the Kolob Terrace section of the park. At more than 7,000 feet, the plateau country here is a different world from the sandstone corridor of the main canyon — ponderosa pine, cooler air, and long views out across forested mesas and distant cliff lines rather than the river-carved narrows most visitors picture.
Good to know
- Reached from Kolob Terrace Road, not the park's main shuttle system — a private vehicle is required
- Part of Zion's less-visited high-elevation backcountry, away from the crowds of Zion Canyon
- Weather changes fast at this elevation; check conditions before heading out, especially in shoulder seasons
