About
Orderville Canyon is the tributary most bottom-up Narrows hikers detour into, entering from the river as a narrower, darker slot than the main canyon. From the Riverside Walk at Temple of Sinawava, wade up the Virgin River and turn into Orderville where it meets the Narrows; no permit is needed for this direction.
What to expect
- About half a mile up, hikers reach a small waterfall some call Veiled Falls, where an NPS sign marks the end of the maintained travel corridor upstream.
- This is still flash-flood country. Check the forecast before you go, and turn back at any sign of rising or discolored water, thunder, or rain upstream.
- Combined with the walk in from Temple of Sinawava, plan for a half-day outing at a comfortable pace.
