Orderville Canyon 4x4 Trailhead

A high-clearance spur into Zion's easiest technical canyon

About

This is the 4x4 trailhead for Orderville Canyon, a canyoneering route that joins the Narrows partway down. From the Orderville Corral off North Fork Road, a high-clearance 4WD vehicle can continue about 2 miles down a steep, rutted spur road to this point — though the road is a one-way commitment, since there's nowhere to turn around once you start down.

Good to know

  • Orderville Canyon is considered Zion's easiest technical canyon, with only two short rappels, but it's also one of the busiest
  • A wilderness permit is required for every descent, and the park caps it at 80 hikers a day
  • Permits aren't issued when Narrows flow exceeds 100 cubic feet per second
  • The route exits into the Narrows itself, ending at Temple of Sinawava — plan for a shuttle back to your vehicle

The dirt approach on North Fork Road can become impassable when wet, even for capable 4WD vehicles, so check conditions before committing to the drive.
