Nung’wu Poa (Paiute) Trail
A tribal-land rim trail with Zion Canyon views
(0)
About
Nung'wu Poa — "the Paiute Trail" — climbs from Springdale's George A. Barker River Park onto a low mesa just outside Zion National Park, gaining about 300 feet before it works along the rim with views back into Zion Canyon's ramparts.
Good to know
- The trail was built in 2023 by Trails Utah in partnership with the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, and it runs entirely on Paiute tribal land.
- It's open to hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, and loops back down to join the Springdale River Trail along the Virgin River.
- Access and parking at the river park are free; the trail typically runs March through December.
It's a town-and-tribal-land trail, not a Zion National Park unit — no park pass or entrance fee applies here, just respect for the land it crosses.
