Moquitch Hill

Moquitch Hill rises at the south end of Springdale, just outside Zion National Park's south entrance, and holds the town's pioneer cemetery beneath walls of Navajo Sandstone. A short trail climbs from the south side of the hill, near the Novel House Bed and Breakfast, up what locals call Water Tower Road to the cemetery grounds, where benches look out over lower Zion Canyon.

• The cemetery has served as Springdale's burial ground since the town's founding by Mormon pioneers in the 1860s
• A cemetery map and key are available to help visitors find specific graves
• The climb is short but has real elevation gain on an unpaved road; wear real shoes
• Treat it as the working cemetery it still is — quiet, respectful visits only
