Lee Pass Trailhead

Lee Pass is the trailhead for the La Verkin Creek Trail in Zion's Kolob Canyons district, reached via Kolob Canyons Road off I-15 Exit 40 — a separate entrance from the main Zion Canyon side of the park, about 3.6 miles east of the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center.

What starts here

• The trail descends from about 6,100 feet at the trailhead toward Kolob Arch, one of the largest freestanding natural arches in the world at roughly 287 feet across.
• Round trip to the arch and back runs about 14 miles, considered moderate as a two-day backpacking trip and strenuous if pushed into a single day.
• Zion requires a permit for any overnight camping along the route; day hikers heading only partway do not need one.

Because Kolob Canyons sits well north of Zion Canyon proper, plan it as its own trip rather than an add-on to a Springdale-based visit.
