About
Lazy Money is a singletrack segment in the Grafton Mesa trail network, on Bureau of Land Management land just outside Zion National Park's southwest boundary near Rockville, Utah. It's reached off the Smithsonian Butte Backcountry Byway and typically ridden as the lead-in to the adjacent Show Me the Money and More Money trails. This is mountain-bike terrain first: technical rock sections and off-camber riding rather than a maintained hiking path.
Good to know
- Part of an extensive singletrack network on Grafton Mesa that sees regular use and appears on trail-mapping apps, though it isn't an officially signed or maintained BLM route
- Connects into the Show Me the Money and More Money trails and the mesa's steeper downhill terrain
- Grafton Mesa shares the same landform as neighboring Gooseberry Mesa, with slickrock and desert scrub scenery and views toward Zion
- Best suited to experienced mountain bikers; walking it as a standalone hike offers little beyond a short stretch of technical singletrack
Reach the trailhead area via Rockville and the Smithsonian Butte Backcountry Byway; road conditions can be rough and are worth checking ahead of a visit.
