About
Langston Mountain rises above Langston Canyon in Zion's remote Kolob Terrace backcountry, reached by an obscure and strenuous scramble above Hop Valley and La Verkin Creek. It isn't a maintained trail — the route from the Hop Valley trailhead runs roughly 18 miles round-trip with Class 2/3 scrambling, careful route-finding, and a full day's commitment.
Good to know
- Views from the summit take in Gregory Butte and Kolob Arch to the west and Beartrap Canyon to the east
- A grove of ponderosa pines grows near the top
- Not a casual hike — backcountry navigation skills are essential and a permit is required for overnight use
