Jacob Peak

Jacob Peak is the northernmost of the Three Patriarchs, a trio of sandstone monoliths on the west side of Zion Canyon named in 1916 by Frederick Fisher for the biblical figures Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. At 6,873 feet, Jacob is easy to pick out by its pale, white-streaked top.

Seeing it

• The formation isn't something you hike to — it's viewed from the Court of the Patriarchs Viewpoint, a short, steep trail off the east side of Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.
• Looking north into the canyon from the overlook, the three peaks run left to right as Abraham, Isaac, then Jacob.
• The viewpoint is a quick stop, reachable by shuttle during the season when the canyon road is shuttle-only, and works well paired with a stop at the Zion Human History Museum nearby.
