Hidden Canyon

Hidden Canyon is a narrow slot between Cable Mountain and the Great White Throne, normally reached by steep switchbacks and a chain-assisted cliff traverse from the Weeping Rock trailhead — about 2.9 miles round trip with roughly 940 feet of elevation gain, leading to a free-standing arch and slickrock pools.

Current status

• The trail has been closed for years due to repeated rockfall, including major slides in 2018 and 2019, and remains closed indefinitely with no announced reopening date as of the most recent park updates.
• Older trail guides and photos showing open access are outdated — check the park's current conditions page before planning around this hike.
• Weeping Rock, the trailhead area, stays open and remains reachable by the Zion Canyon shuttle even though the Hidden Canyon spur beyond it is closed.

If you wanted similar chain-assisted exposure, the park points visitors toward the East Rim route or Observation Point via East Mesa instead.
