Archeology Trailhead

The Archeology Trailhead sits at the northeast corner of the Zion Canyon Visitor Center parking lot, along Watchman Campground Road, and marks the start of a roughly 0.4-mile round-trip climb to the site of an Ancestral Puebloan food storage shelter. The shuttle doesn't serve this trail — it's an easy walk straight from the visitor center or the park's pedestrian entrance.

Good to know

• The hilltop site was occupied roughly AD 700 to 950; today only stone foundations remain
• More than 1,600 artifacts recovered here, including tools and ceramics, are on display at the nearby Zion Human History Museum
• Takes less than an hour round trip and is accessible to most fitness levels
• A good first stop for orienting yourself before a longer hike into the canyon
