Mystery Springs

Mystery Springs is a spring-fed pool inside Mystery Canyon, one of Zion's classic technical slot canyons on the park's east side. Reaching it means descending Mystery Canyon's full canyoneering route: a series of rappels through a narrow slot that ends with a roughly 115-foot drop into the pool itself, followed by a swim through cold, deep water. The setting is lush by canyon-country standards, with hanging gardens and a turquoise pool tucked between sandstone walls.

This is not a hike. Mystery Canyon requires rope-handling skill, a canyoneering permit, and real technical experience — it's regularly cited as one of the harder Zion permits to draw because of its popularity and limited daily quota. There's no trail access to Mystery Springs from above or below; the only way in is the technical descent through the canyon.
