Free Standing Arch

Zion's Navajo Sandstone cliffs hold dozens of freestanding arches, most without formal names or trails — the National Park Service's own overview of the park's arches notes that new ones keep turning up as erosion continues. This one sits on the park's east side, within the same canyon-rim country that includes Cable Mountain and the East Rim Trail, visible from a distance rather than reachable by a dedicated path. There's no maintained trailhead or signage for it specifically, and no visitor facilities nearby.

What it is

• An unnamed, undocumented freestanding arch in Zion's east-side Navajo Sandstone cliffs
• Best viewed from a distance — no dedicated maintained trail to the arch itself
• Part of the same geologic family as Zion's better-known Kolob Arch and Crawford Arch
