About

Saddle up for a genuine Western adventure through some of southern Utah's most spectacular terrain. Canyon Trail Rides offers guided horseback and mule rides ranging from 1.5 to 4 hours. Experienced cowboy and cowgirl guides lead each trip. They know every trail and vista. The calm, well-trained horses and mules do most of the work. You just take in the sweeping canyon views and rugged landscapes that make this region famous.

Choose Your Adventure

The 3-hour ride ($125 per person) is their most popular option. It takes you deeper into the backcountry with a halfway rest stop for water and photos. For first-timers or those wanting a shorter commitment, the 1.5-hour trip offers plenty of scenery without the full-day investment.

Guides like Chris, Eddy, and Joe get high marks for keeping groups together and sharing local knowledge along the way.

What to Know Before You Go

This is bucket-list territory. You'll navigate steep trails with majestic views that you simply can't reach on foot. It's perfect for families looking to experience the canyon country from a different perspective.

Important details:

  • Weight limit: 220 pounds

  • Guides assign your horse or mule based on experience and comfort level

  • Bring a hat, plenty of water, and cash to tip your guide (they earn it)

  • Located right in Springdale

It's an easy add-on to your Zion National Park visit. You'll see southern Utah the way cowboys have for generations.

Clay was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable of the park and the formations. He made the ride interesting and fun. His balance of sense of humor and information made the day even more enjoyable. I have a disability and could never hike down into Bryce Canyon like these amazing mules did, so it was an opportunity to experience something I could have not done without the mule ride. If you are fortunate enough to get a mule (especially Pearl) you are in for a great and smooth ride. They are so sure footed that they handle the trail like a walk in the park. We loved the ride and definitely recommend for all ages. We chose the 3 hour ½ day Peek-A-Boo Loop and I am so glad that we did. The views were breathtaking. Thank you to the staff and horses/mules that made our experience perfect. Bring cash to tip!

This was an incredible way to see Bryce Canyon! The 1.5 hour tour was a perfect amount of time, traversing 4 miles through the canyon. Our guide Hank was knowledgeable, humorous, helpful and kind. The cost was extremely reasonable for the experience we shared and memories we made as a family. If you are going to Bryce Canyon, book this!

This is our fourth trail ride while visiting a NP. The crew at Bryce was amazing, we did the 3hr ride and it did not disappoint. The trial overlapped a section we were planning on hiking on foot. No need to hike on foot as I don't think it could have been any better. Highly recommend if heading to Bryce you book this experience.
