Cabin Spring
A seasonal spring near the top of the West Rim Trail
About
Cabin Spring sits just off the West Rim Trail near the top of its climb out of Zion Canyon, reached from The Grotto trailhead or the West Rim shuttle stop. It's one of a handful of water sources backpackers rely on along the Zion Traverse route.
The spring is shallow and can stir up sediment, so most hikers run it through a pump filter rather than drink straight from it. It typically flows for much of the year but can run low or dry out later in the season — treat it as a backup, not a guarantee, and check current conditions with the wilderness desk before counting on it for a multi-day trip.
Campsite 2 on the West Rim Trail sits nearby, and reaching this stretch of trail requires a wilderness permit for overnight camping, issued at Zion's wilderness desk.
