About
Beatty Spring is a reliable backcountry water source on the south side of La Verkin Creek in Zion National Park's Kolob Canyons backcountry, near the mouth of Hop Valley. Water drips and pools out of the boulders just off the trail, tucked behind trees, and it's one of only a few springs in this section of the park that typically flows year-round.
Good to know
- Backpackers on the Hop Valley-Connector-Wildcat Canyon route, roughly 10.6 miles in, commonly fill up here since water is scarce ahead in Hop Valley
- The spring sits downstream of cattle grazing in Hop Valley, so treat or filter all water before drinking
- It's one of several water sources along La Verkin Creek's 13 backcountry campsites, but don't assume any spring here is flowing without checking current conditions
- Reached only via backcountry trail, not a roadside stop
