About

The Spotted Dog brings refined American dining to Springdale with a menu that changes with the seasons and a wine cellar that draws oenophiles from across southern Utah. The restaurant occupies a bright, airy space that feels both sophisticated and welcoming, making it a popular choice for special occasions and memorable meals after a day exploring Zion's red rock wonders.

The kitchen focuses on well-executed American classics with seasonal touches. Steaks, fresh salads, and house-made pasta dishes anchor a menu that emphasizes quality ingredients and careful preparation. The wine program is particularly noteworthy, with a cellar selection that ranges from accessible favorites to rare vintages that pair beautifully with the chef's creations. Cocktails receive similar attention, crafted with precision to complement the dining experience.

Service at the Spotted Dog aims for attentive professionalism, though experiences can vary during peak season when Springdale swells with Zion visitors. The atmosphere strikes a balance between upscale and approachable, making it equally suitable for anniversary dinners or post-hike celebrations with friends.

Located in the heart of Springdale just minutes from Zion National Park's entrance, the restaurant serves as a culinary anchor for the gateway community. While there are more casual options nearby for quick meals between adventures, the Spotted Dog offers something different: a chance to slow down, savor thoughtfully prepared food, and perhaps discover a new favorite wine while recounting the day's canyon explorations.

I ordered the burger with fries. The fries were pretty good, the burger was bland and had no sizzle. Almost seemed like it was pre-cooked or something, which would make sense because it only comes how they serve it, i.e. not cooked to order. My wife ordered the purse pasta, which was not bad, but not great. The portion size was also much smaller than expected. The restaurant seemd like it was trying to be high end, but it was definitely not that.

The food was okay but not fabulous. Some good local offerings but doesn't feel great value. The servers are very good and make a visit enjoyable.

$23 for this small Caesar salad with 6 pieces of chicken!!! Mine with strawberries, the equivalent of 2 strawberries and 6 walnuts, was $13!
