About

Basalt brings fine dining to southern Utah with a menu that elevates familiar favorites alongside more adventurous plates. The funeral potatoes here aren't your typical church potluck side—they're reimagined with pork belly that diners consistently rave about. The kitchen handles both comfort food and upscale entrees like sea bass and steak tenderloin with equal skill.

The atmosphere strikes that sweet spot between polished and welcoming. You'll feel dressed up but not stuffy, and the staff genuinely seems to care about making your night special. They're known for going the extra mile for celebrations (surprise desserts have been spotted). The bar program covers the basics well with wine, beer, and cocktails to match the elevated comfort food vibe.

Located in Ivins, Basalt sits about 20 minutes from Zion's main entrance, making it a solid choice for a nice dinner after a day in the park. The restaurant handles larger groups well with advance reservations, so it works whether you're planning a romantic anniversary dinner or gathering the whole family for something more special than the usual park-adjacent fare.

Amazing experience at Basalt. We went for our wedding anniversary and the staff was so kind and welcoming. Our server Vanessa was amazing!! So friendly and attentive but not disruptive. She was knowledgeable about dishes and made excellent recommendations. We went with the diver scallops, NY strip steak, and Parmesan truffle fries. Every bite of everything was incredible. I will say, my drink was weak but tasty. But this is Utah. I got the prickly pear gin drink and it was refreshing and not too sweet. But I couldn’t taste the gin at all so maybe keep that in mind when ordering. Our night was made extra special though when they brought out a delicious chocolate mouse cake to celebrate our anniversary. It was such a beautiful dinner with an amazing view of the golf course and sunset. Amazing experience that we will talk about for a long time.

"A5 wagyu was very good! The rest of the meal was just ok (french onion 👎, funeral potatoes ok, pasta ok, sweet potato souffle 👎, mac n cheese ok, scallops 👎👎 ). Service was great from server. With only 3 couples at 5pm, I got placed facing a wall instead of the views or golf course. Made it feel like a super super expensive average dinner unfortunately ($360 before tip). I’d rather head to vegas"

Incredible experience! We had just gotten engaged and decided for our celebration we would come try this place out. It did not disappoint. It exceeded what we were expecting. Food was amazing. And the service made us feel like the we were the main show! Thank you again for an amazing night. We will definitely come back.

Our experience at Basalt was amazing! The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and made for a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Mary, was friendly, attentive, and provided exceptional service throughout the evening. The food was outstanding—the ribeye was cooked perfectly, the lamb was delicious, and the sea bass was absolutely fantastic. Every dish exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be dining at Basalt again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal and excellent service!

Wonderful experience all around. We tried a variety of things: Duck tacos: 9/10. Delicious flavor but the meat itself could have been a bit hotter Apple salad: 10/10: I’ve never had anything like this before. The presentation was beautiful and the salad was unique and delicious. Lavender Chicken: 8.5/10. The lavender really came through, which was a super unique flavor, and the chicken was cooked very well. It might have been just personal preference, but I thought the whole dish needed a touch of salt. I also thought there was too much oatsotto for the dish to be truly balanced. I could have done with less of that and more chicken. Fries: 10/10 no notes. Absolutely delicious. Dessert: both desserts were light and unique. A perfect end to our meal. The staff was very attentive and polite, willing to engage in friendly conversation and offer up their own preferences when asked. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion!
