Switchback Grille
Zion's original prime steak and seafood house, serving Creekstone Farms beef and daily fresh fish a short walk from the park gate.
About
Switchback Grille has been Springdale's prime steakhouse since 1996, plating USDA Prime beef from Creekstone Farms in a warm, southwest dining room. It sits right on Zion Park Boulevard, a short walk from the pedestrian entrance to Zion National Park. The setting looks out toward the West Temple cliffs.
Steak is the headliner here. The menu runs from a house filet mignon and Manhattan New York strip to a flat iron, porterhouse, Colorado rack of lamb, and a daily dry-aged cut aged 30 to 75 days. Seafood is just as serious, with sesame Ahi tuna, pan-roasted Scottish salmon, Columbia River steelhead, diver sea scallops, and a seasonal macadamia-crusted Alaskan halibut.
Lighter and meat-free options exist too, including a buffalo Bolognese over rigatoni, free-range chicken, and a grilled cauliflower steak. Start with elk sliders, crab cakes, fresh burrata, or the daily chowder, and finish with creme brulee or a thick milkshake. The full bar carries an extensive wine list plus a deep range of scotches, tequilas, whiskeys, and cocktails.
Dinner runs roughly 5 to 9 p.m., and the kitchen is closed Mondays, so plan accordingly. Reservations are smart in peak season. After a long day on the Angels Landing or Narrows trail, this is a reliable Springdale stop for a substantial, well-prepared meal minutes from the gate.
